Overview

You will learn the fundamentals of underground line-locating, plus current integrated mapping options to bring utility data into GIS.

Kelly Jones, Frontier Precision Underground Locating Sales Specialist, has a dozen years of locating experience. He will provide hands-on “how-to” basics of utility locating, including water, gas, electric, fiber, 811, etc. You will be able to do basic locating at the end of the workshop!

David Siddle, Frontier Precision Mapping and SUE rep will share options on current integrated mapping solutions including: PointMan (CDOT right-of-way mandated from Jan 14, 2021), Subsurface Maps, Trimble TerraFlex, Trimble Access. Will discuss additional field data collection options, plus hopes for Esri Field Maps/ Survey123 workflows. Hands-on demo of high accuracy GNSS solutions (sub-foot, four-inch, sub-inch) with line locators to create all-in-one “mapping-locating” solutions.

We will be using Radiodetection (RD) line locators and Trimble GNSS mapping hardware for the workshop.
