Overview

Collecting field data is a crucial part of Geographic Information System (GIS). You can now switch to a comprehensive digital solution that can be easily accessed and operated on a mobile device or tablet, eliminating the need for paper forms and maps. This workshop guides you through the fundamentals of creating field maps using the new map viewer in AGOL, Smart Forms, offline maps, settings, transferring field maps from your computer to your mobile device, and how to collect data.

About the speaker

I have a decade of experience working as a wildlife biologist, collecting data in various natural habitats. Recently, I graduated from Penn State University with a master’s degree in Spatial Data Science. For the past two years, I have been working as the lead project manager at AllPoints GIS, where I also teach GIS classes. Field Data capture is one of my areas of expertise, and we have been offering our Field Data capture class to different agencies, including the National Parks Service, Fish and Wildlife Service, and Forest Service.
