Session Abstract:

The Wyoming Geographic Information Science Center at the University of Wyoming and Woolpert are currently working together to create a Wyoming state-wide DTM and contour dataset. Woolpert is utilizing statewide topographic lidar data the firm collected through the 3D Elevation Program (3DEP) to create these state-wide Lidar derivative datasets in response to needs identified by a wide range of end-users across the state.

The presentation will give a general overview of planning and challenges that occur when developing a uniform state-wide DTM and contour database. The presentation will also cover how the tiling schema was developed, projection/coordinate system and the methodology behind the large-scale production required to complete this project in a short period of time.

We will also discuss WyGISC’s plans for designing and deploying a Wyoming LiDAR Data Portal to enable public access to these new products and other shareable LiDAR data sets contributed by other entities from around the state.
